REAKT is a Japanese local multi genre artists that has been gaining attention among-st the anime and j-cultures scene in the Eastern coast of North America. I was so intrigued, I just had to sit down and talk with him to find out and share a little about him.

Nippon Project: Let us start by having you introduce yourself for people who may not know you. With this introduction please let us what you are currently obsessed with or into.

REAKT: Hello. My name is REAKT. I'm a Japanese singer based in New York touring in North America. Recently, I have been enjoying playing sports and going to beach as well as playing music.

So, how do you like New York? Have you been traveling to many other places? Where else, if given the opportunity, would you like to visit?

I like New York. I enjoy meeting people and cultures from all over the world. I went and performed in other parts of US, Canada, Japan, Caribbean, Thailand, Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. If I had an opportunity, I would like to traval around the world.

You artists name is very interesting. What is the meaning behind it?

It comes from word "React" I wanted people to react to my music and I changed "c" to "k" to add originality to it.

How would you describe your music style?

My music style is a mix of Pop, EDM, Hip Hop. I sing/rap both in Japanese and English because I grew up using both languages.

Who are some of you biggest musical influences?

Stereotypes, Kohh, One Ok Rock, Jin Akanishi, Orange Range, Yutaka Ozaki, Perfume, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, LMFAO, Far East Movement. All of their music and stage moves have influenced me a lot.

Here in North America, you perform at many different Anime/Japanese culture festivals and conventions. Correct? What would you said is the biggest different between those and when you perform in Japan?

Yes. The biggest difference is the way audiences listen to my music. In the US, the audience dance and sing with me more. In Japan, the audience shake penlights and towels at concerts.

If you could collaborate with any Japanese or American artist, who would it be?

I would like to collaborate with Stereotypes. They make music for some of my favorite artists and I really like the songs/beats that they make.

Being that a lot of your fans are interested in traveling to Japan, where is a must go place when you are in Japan for a short visit?

Tokyo, Kyoto, and Okinawa. In Tokyo, you can enjoy the city life. Kyoto, you can see traditional Japan. Okinawa, there are nice beaches and nature.

Is there any Japanese subculture that you find particularly interesting?

Manga and anime. I enjoyed watching them as I grew up and they are popular all over the world now. I am happy that a lot of people start getting interested in my country because of manga and anime.

I saw that you have been a hair model as well.. How do you think image has
an effect on you as an artist and how people see you?

Yes, I was a hair model for hair salons in Japan. Once I became a hair model, I started to care more about my image and how I dress. As an artist, I think it is important to care about your image because it is a way to express yourself. Dressing your best is a way to show respect to the audience.

If you could describe yourself in 3 words. What would they be and why?

Active - I like going outside and trying something new.

Optimist - I don't like to get stressed out and worry about things easily.

Easygoing - I like to keep things peaceful and calm.

Any coming up activities? Final message to the readers.
