On the 19th of April ViViD celebrated their third anniversary with a fan club-only show. The venue was overcrowded: 900 people came to congratulate the band with their holiday.
The show opened with “W.B.A.”, the song from the band’s very first single, “Take-off”. Fans threw their hands up in the air immediately and started banging them in time with the beat. When “Re:Load” started, green lights flooded the stage, slowly transforming to blue. Several bright pink rays of lights flashed over the crowd and made the hands of the fans look like bright splashes of colors. The song evolved into energetic chorus, and fans started banging their heads violently IV. performed an intricate solo. Bright flashes of yellow light blinded the audience from time to time, marking the changes of the tempo. At the end of the song green and blue lights reappeared, fans yelled to cheer the band.
Shin, the vocalist, took a short MC to thank everyone for coming to see the show. Stage lit red, Shin jumped from the stand and dashed to the next songs, “FAKE” and “vanity” which colored the stage red and blue, altering with mild reddish-pink. While the band was playing “Yume~mugen no kanata~” fans waved their hands from side to side. White, yellow and orange lights mingled on the stage, fascinating the audience with the colors of the rainbow during the chorus.
“Twilight” was marked with a passionate solo played by Reno. The vocalist was standing in the circle of purple light, while the stage was flooded with orange. Turquoise lights flashed on the sides of the stage. Green, red and purple spotlights wandered around the hall, creating a unique atmosphere of utter joy.
After “Hamon” the band proceeded to the next MC.
“Shinjuku, are you having fun?” – said the vocalist. He started telling different stories to the fans. When he mentioned ramen, Ko-ki, the drummer, immediately joined the conversation.
“Let’s have fun until the end! “Take-off”!” - Shouted Shin. Fans happily yelled in response. The stage turned into a rainbow once again, presenting the full range of bright colors. Fans sang along with Shin, waving their hands in time.
During the last song of the main set, “survive”, the fans took the towels with band’s logo and started whirling them above their heads. Juicy lights of the color of lemon flooded the whole venue. In the end, Shin poured water onto those who were standing in the front and the band left the stage.
As soon as the band disappeared, the crowd started calling them for the encore. Instead there was something special prepared. The band reappeared on stage and announced a lottery among the fans. The winners got some private stuff of the band members as prizes. Each member announced what the prize he has prepared is and took out the number of a lucky ticket. Reno acted as a host of that show.
Ko-ki gave away the drumsticks he used to play before the show in Nippon Budokan.
“Vui, it’s your turn!” – said Reno, intentionally inverting the name o his bandmate.
IV took out a 1kg weight and said: “It’s a very useful thing, an arm weight! I’ve chosen 1 kg instead of 5 in case a girl wins it. 5 kg would be too heavy for her, but 1 kilo is just perfect!”
“I’ve chosen a perfume as a prize!” – announced Ryoga. “Well, then next time someone may smell Ryoga’s scent” – commented the host.
“My prize is Final Fantasy!” – said the vocalist, “I hope everyone have PSPs?”
“Obviously, no one has it!” – Reno replied. – “Well, now it’s my turn. My prize will be my cap. It would smell like me”. The girl, who won it, immediately blushed.
The chain returned to IV. He was holding another weight in his hands. Everyone laughed. “Well, this one is entirely different, it’s for legs and look, it’s orange!”
The guys gave away some more stuff, and in the end Reno presented his pajamas, adding that he hasn’t washed it.
Fans wished happy 3 year anniversary, and, finally, the encore started.
Lemon lights whirled around the stage. Fans were moving from side to side, waving their hands in time with the beat. The venue drowned in the variety of colors.
On the last MC the band thanked the audience for coming.
Ryoga: “I’d like to see you supporting us 10 or even 20 years later!”
Reno: “I am happy to see your smiles. Thank you!”
Shin: “We’ve never imagined we can go this far! We are here only because of you! I really love you all! Thank you!”
“And now – last song, “Kimi koi”!” – announced Shin. Fans threw their hands in the air, head banging fiercely. Reno presented another beautiful solo.
“We are ViViD!” - shouted Shin. The band members said their good byes to the audience, took off their guitars…But suddenly they gathered in the centre of the stage again and started discussing something secretly.
Reno: “Don’t you remember? For real?”
Shin: “Believe it or not, I don’t!”
Fans could hear only a few random pieces of their conversation.
Reno: “Do you remember the lyrics?”
Shin: “Believe it or not, I do!”
Ko-ki: “Hurry up, guys!”
The members grabbed their instruments, returned to their places, and surprisingly for everyone in the audience played one more song as a bonus. In the end they took each other by the hands and jumped up, fans jumping together with them.
“Thank you! See you soon!” – said Shin. The band proceeded to the doors of the venue to shake the hands of every single fan that came to see the show that night.
